Season 14 clicks once you treat Diablo 4 runes and seasonal resources as part of the same climb, not separate chores. Across the Threshold is where that idea becomes real. It sends you toward a Realmwalker, then into a Deathtoll Chamber, and from there into the key-and-boss loop that feeds Mythic crafting. Plenty of players waste time chasing random markers, but there is a cleaner route.
Getting Through Across the Threshold
Do not wait around in Helltide hoping the right event pops up. Surging Ruptures can lead to a Realmwalker, though they are unreliable. If the quest is holding you up, head for the Fields of Desecration near Zarbinzet and watch for a Colossal Rupture. That is the event worth prioritising when you need progress rather than a lucky spawn.
- Build around fast clearing first, using the best weapon and useful defensive gear that drops while levelling.
- Run Helltides when they are active, since the enemy density, loot, reputation progress, and Ruptures all stack together.
- Complete a Colossal Rupture near Zarbinzet when Across the Threshold requires a Realmwalker.
- Stay on the ritual zones, kill the waves, close the Ruptures, and finish off the Realmwalker.
- Enter the portal straight away, clear the Deathtoll Chamber, and return to Zarbinzet when the quest updates.
Inside a Deathtoll Chamber, damage is not the only thing that matters. Gravehounds can leave behind orbs that drift toward the Exarch. Pick them off when you can, because letting too many through makes the fight drag. Once you are in Torment difficulty, choose the tier you can clear without constant deaths. A fast Torment run beats a slow one every time. High-Torment chambers are especially useful because they guarantee at least one Superior Lair Key, so it pays to stockpile keys before heading into a Reaper session.
Where Mythic Crafting Fits
The Corrupted Reaper is the main repeatable source of Pandemonium Fragments, while the Glints of Hope reputation reward adds a dependable extra fragment. Patch 3.1.1 lowered the Horadric Cube recipe from five fragments to four, but crafting is still a gamble. The Unique you sacrifice determines the equipment slot, not the exact Mythic you receive. Hold onto fragments until your build has settled and you would be happy with most outcomes from that slot.
The best rhythm is simple: level in dense content, pick up Ruptures during Helltides, use Colossal Ruptures when you need a Realmwalker, then turn chambers into keys and keys into Reaper attempts. If you decide to buy diablo 4 runes, keep that choice tied to a clear build goal rather than impulse upgrades. Season 14 rewards players who know what each activity pays into, and that makes the Mythic chase feel far less random.
